About Haven Ridge

History

Haven Ridge was formed more than 40 years ago, in 1982, by a group of local mothers who decided to take action to help the pregnant homeless people who they saw every day in their community.

Initially this small group of mothers invited those who were pregnant and in need into their homes so they could receive a warm bed, support, and safety.

Then, with the help of local organizations and businesses, a nonprofit was formed and the staff stablished a permanent house and began offering more formalized supportive services.

Today, thanks to ongoing community support, Haven Ridge continues to be a place where women, children, and transgender individuals in need can find support.

Staff

Lisa Sweeney-Miran, Chief Executive Officer (she/her)

Lisa joined Haven Ridge in February of 2018. She has degrees in law and philosophy and has a background in youth & families, compliance, research, and policy. She is a mother of two and the Vice-President of the Boulder Valley Board of Education. Over the course of her career Lisa has worked extensively in education, law & policy, and social services. Lisa was raised in Boulder and has been involved in programs that support homeless populations, refugees, and marginalized populations since 2002 both here in the US and overseas. After graduating law school and passing the bar, Lisa spent many years working and living overseas before returning to her hometown of Boulder to raise a family.

Over the past decades Lisa has been a member of several city boards and commissions, has worked as a volunteer for several local nonprofits, and has been involved in advocacy work across the city and metro area. Lisa is passionate about continuing to grow the Haven Ridge program and to advocate for structural and institutional change across the metro area.

Shanan Collins, Chief Operations Officer (she/her)

Shanan joined Haven Ridge in April of 2018. She has been involved with programs that support young children, youth and families since 1997. She is a mother of 3 grown children who have started families of their own.

Shanan is a Boulder Community Foundation Leadership Fellows graduate and came to Haven Ridge after working as a Program Director for the 5 years prior at Bridge House and BoHo. Shanan excels at finding creative ways to expand services to the Boulder County community and advocating for the needs of the unhoused.
